Turk’s Turban

Technically a squash, Turk’s Turban is often grouped with gourds for its striking decorative appeal. It produces uniquely shaped fruits resembling a smaller squash perched atop a larger one, averaging 22 cm in height and 12.5 cm in width (9 x 5 inch) and weighing between 1 and 3 kg (2 – 6.5 lbs). The colourful rind displays bold stripes ranging from red and white to green and orange, making it a vivid autumn display. Its hard skin and long storage life extend usability well into the winter months.
