At Elsoms, we have a great range of cabbage varieties. Cabbage is a highly nutritious vegetable: related to broccoli and brussels sprouts, it’s low in calories, rich in potassium and vitamins A and C. It’s got a number of different uses in the UK market, which we’ve reflected in our range. It’s important that there’s a year-long supply of cabbages for processing, so we have a good selection of early-processing cabbages. These are the Almanac, Typhoon and the recently-added Passat varieties. Grown mainly for use in coleslaw, these are large cabbages with a white internal colouring. Our maincrop varieties are planted later in the year, between April and May, are harvested between October and November and stored for the rest of the year. The length of time these cabbages can be stored for varies between variety, so it’s worth browsing our selection or making an enquiry to find the perfect variety for you. Similarly, our pre-pack cabbages have great storage potential. When storing cabbages, it’s possible for diseases to develop. To help meet this risk, treatments can be applied before storage. We’re sure to have the perfect cabbage variety to suit your needs - contact us if you require any further information.
