Red Cabbage

We offer an excellent range of red cabbages, a vegetable low in calories and high in vitamins A and C and potassium. Many of our cabbage are high-yielding and have excellent storage potential, making them popular choices. Grown in modules which are transplanted to the field, the majority of red cabbages are grown for the pre-pack market, with some suitable for processing. Although red cabbages can be grown in most soils across the UK, you’ll need to keep an eye on the pH levels of the soil, as liming may be necessary if the pH level is below 7. This can also help control club root disease. Red cabbage seeds are sown between February and April, ready for transplanting between April and May, before cropping between August and November. Our varieties have excellent characteristics, so you’re sure to find the perfect red cabbage for your needs. For example, the Lodero F1 has good resistance to forms of clubroot, and the internal characteristics of the Kosaro F1 have been improved significantly. If long term storage is a priority, the Klimaro and Huzaro varieties perform very well in this area, and offer high yields too. We’re also pleased to offer three organic red cabbage varieties – the Integro F1, Buscaro and Subaro.
