Be inspired by Bejo at Fruit Logistica
At Fruit Logistica, breeding company Bejo Zaden will be presenting Coolwrap, Purple sprouting broccoli, Snack carrot and Shallots from seed. These concepts and crops are Bejo Zaden’s response to the growing demand for tasty and healthy vegetables that are convenient and easy to prepare. This year Bejo will also put the spotlight on organic seed at Fruit Logistica.
Coolwrap; healthy cabbage leaves with a fine mild flavour
Bejo is showing her innovative concept ‘Coolwrap’; a square cabbage leaf from specifically selected flat white cabbage varieties with a mild flavour. The thin veins of the leaves make them suitable for usage as a wrap, for sushi or as part of a healthy sandwich. Coolwrap fits perfectly in a low carbohydrate and gluten free diet. Our chef will prepare tasty bites of Coolwrap at Fruit Logistica so visitors can see and try.
Innovation Award nominee present again
Extremely healthy, unique taste and a striking appearance: that characterizes our Purple sprouting broccoli. This special crop was nominated for the Innovation Award 2012. Thanks to the high levels of naturally occurring glucosinolate compounds, Purple sprouting broccoli is extremely healthy too.
Snack carrots tasty, healthy and eye-catching
The demand for healthy snacks is increasing. Carrots make a healthy and tasty snack for every moment of the day. Bejo will be displaying varieties in this snack segment that can make a difference on account of their colour and flavour. Bejo’s varieties Rainbow, Ibiza, Nerja, Mokum and Namdal have been specially selected.
Shallot seed from Bejo is healthy propagating material
Shallots have a refined sweet but punchy taste and add flavour to many dishes. Shallots are a rich source of Vitamin A,B,C and E. In France, shallots are already well-known as a high-quality ingredient. In other countries, there are plenty of opportunities in the shallot segment. Growers using shallot seed from Bejo are provided with healthy propagating material, which is the ideal start for shallot production. Shallots grown from seed can be marketed officially as shallots anywhere in Europe.
Organic breakfast for the chain
Friday February 7th Bejo is organizing an organic breakfast with the theme “a good way to start your day – organic from seed to plate” where Bejo will start the conversation with growers and customers from the chain about closing the organic chain. Bejo is a trendsetter in production and sales of organic seed. Bejo adds new varieties to its organic assortment yearly and recognizes that this sector sees the importance of organic seed in order to close the organic food chain. That’s why Bejo is increasing its organic seed production, so we can meet the market’s demand. From mildew resistant onions to tasty carrots, Bejo’s organic seed program offers over 40 crops.
Bejo invites you to visit the stand, see the concepts and crops and taste these vegetables with delicious bites prepared on the spot. And of course, we will be happy to discuss our products with you.
