Organic Vegetables

We are delighted to offer this section of the website for Organic seed users. The majority of the varieties we sell are from the leading Dutch vegetable company Bejo Zaden for whom we distribute in the UK. Since the mid 1990's, Bejo, more than any other vegetable seed company have embraced the organic concept; they now have 100 varieties available in more than 30 species particularly outdoor biennial crops. Bejo have built up an infrastructure for organic seed production in France, Holland, New Zealand and the United States of America and the range of varieties which they work, continually increase.

Elsoms continue to breed in a selection of traditional UK crops, such as Swede, Parsnips, Brussels Sprouts and Purple Sprouting Broccoli (the last two species in partnership with Bejo). With the combination of both Bejo's and Elsom's considerable resources and expertise in plant breeding, seed production and seed treating, organic growers can be assured that full attention is being given to the organic seed sector.

In this section of the website, all the varieties listed are available as organic seed. However, where there are gaps in the continuity programme, if only organic seed is being used, we have suggested varieties which are available as non-chemically treated; these varieties indicated by NCT next to the variety title. There are planting/harvesting guides throughout the website; in all cases green bars indicate possible planting times, and blue bars suggest the likely harvesting.
