Elsoms have their own breeding programme for winter wheat. Brompton and Welford, two of the highest yielding winter wheats on the recent HGCA UK Recommended List, were bred by Elsoms Seeds. This follows the success of the feed varieties Tanker, Weston and Chaucer, and the bread making variety Caxton.

Elsoms are also the UK distributors for Maison Florimond Desprez from Cappelle, near Lille in Northern France. They have had major success with Soissons and Isengrain, both very early maturing bread wheats with awned ears. Recently the variety Kipling was a candidate for Recommendation.
